After Apple Inc. (AAPL) released this year's new phones and watches, now it's the iPad's turn.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based tech company announced Tuesday its latest tablet lineup, including 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with the M2 chip, as well as entry-level iPads with major design updates. The new iPads will be available on October 26. The company also said that the iPadOS 16 software upgrade will roll out on October 24.
The new iPad Pro looks the same as last year's model, but features a faster M2 processor and Wi-Fi 6E wireless, which the company says will make downloads twice as fast as the previous model. The company is also introducing a new Apple Pencil hover feature that previews markers before the stylus touches the screen.
The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799 for the Wi-Fi model and $999 for the Wi-Fi and cellular model. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,099 for the Wi-Fi model and $1,299 for the Wi-Fi-plus-cellular model. The Apple Pencil is priced at $129.
The entry-level iPad has a new look, with a larger 10.9-inch screen and no home button, just like other iPad models. Touch ID is embedded into the power button on the top of the iPad.
Prices for the updated entry-level iPad have also risen, starting at $449 for the Wi-Fi model, up from $329 before, and $599 for the Wi-Fi-plus-cellular model.
Apple also released a new version of the Apple TV 4K on Tuesday, with a faster processor and support for HDR10+. The new Apple TV 4K starts at $129 and goes on sale Nov. 4, with last year's model priced at $179.
