2022-12-01

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) opened a "Design Center" in Osaka City on December 1 to support semiconductor design. This is the second design center in Japan after Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The company also revealed a goal of employing more than 400 people combined at the two bases by 2026. It is expected to be the largest among the design centers the company has built overseas.

Lisi Zhang, senior director of TSMC's design and technology platform, held a press conference in Osaka City on November 30. She said that the strength and contribution of the Yokohama base was moving, and she hoped to attract more talents to TSMC in Japan.

TSMC's design center is an organization directly under the R&D department of the headquarters. Employs approximately 2,200 people worldwide, including Japan and the Americas, and is responsible for providing design support, etc. to companies that use semiconductors.

State-of-the-art semiconductors require a long time and effort to design. In order for companies that design circuits to use cutting-edge semiconductors as soon as possible, TSMC, which is involved in foundry, is promoting the construction of design platforms and supporting companies in using design tools.

In Japan, TSMC opened a design center base in Yokohama in 2020, employing a total of more than 180 people, including those who will join the company in April 2023. 8 Become a social recruiter such as an experienced engineer. Since April 2022, fresh graduates will be recruited. It is reported that 4 will become masters and 6 will become doctors.

Takuya Yasui, the person in charge of the company's Japan Design Center, said, "When promoting recruitment activities in Yokohama, there are many Kansai talents who want to participate in cutting-edge technology research and development. I hope to provide global and cutting-edge semiconductor development work to talents who do not want to leave the local area." .
