This year's APEC Economic Leaders Meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand from November 18th to 19th. President Tsai Ing-wen announced at the press conference at the Presidential Palace on the morning of the 20th that Zhang Zhongmou, the founder of TSMC, was the leader representative. Zhang Zhongmou and his wife Zhang Shufen also attended the press conference. Zhang Zhongmou represented President Tsai Ing-wen for the 5th time and Taiwan for the 6th time as the leader representative to attend the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting.
Tsai Ing-wen said that Taiwan's semiconductor industry, especially TSMC, plays a pivotal role in the world, and all parties are concerned. At this time, the representative of Zhang Zhongmou is the irreplaceable candidate.
Tsai Ing-wen said that he hoped Zhang Zhongmou and the delegation would convey three important positions to all APEC member states. First, we must face up to the differences of opinion in the region, strive to achieve an appropriate balance between free and open trade and fair competition, and between economic development and inclusiveness and sustainability, and then develop a forward-looking and progressive economic structure and rules that are commonly followed.
Second, let all countries pay more attention to Taiwan's key influence in the global industrial supply chain, especially the semiconductor industry. At the same time, it is willing to cooperate with regional partners to jointly build a safe, reliable, and resilient industrial supply chain.
Third, show Taiwan's determination and efforts to pursue sustainable economic development, vigorously promote green transformation, and take care of the disadvantaged.
