ROHM has established a strategic partnership with Shenzhen Basic Semiconductor Co., Ltd., an emerging power semiconductor manufacturer in China. The parties will cooperate in the development of power semiconductors using next-generation material silicon carbide (SiC). Rohm said that the parts jointly developed will be adopted by automakers, and that they will win over Chinese and other automakers in the future.
Founded in 2016, Shenzhen Basic Semiconductor has advantages in the field of semiconductors and automotive parts using SiC with less power loss. Cooperate with auto giants such as Guangzhou Automobile Group to produce automotive power semiconductors. Rohm will provide silicon carbide chips to Shenzhen Basic Semiconductor, attracting major automakers.
