According to a news report on Monday, Microsoft Corp. is laying off nearly 1000 employees in multiple departments.
Axios and Business Insider reported the above layoffs on Monday evening. The source told these news agencies that the number of layoffs was less than 1000, involving multiple regions and departments, including Xbox and Edge. According to Microsoft's website, the company has about 221000 employees worldwide.
MarketWatch emailed Microsoft on Monday evening to confirm or comment on the layoff report, but did not receive a response.
The technology giant is scheduled to release its quarterly financial report on October 25.
