The data shows that MediaTek’s consolidated revenue in December 2022 was 38.685 billion yuan, a monthly increase of 7%, and a year-on-year decrease of 16.2%. The full-year consolidated revenue in 2022 will be 548.796 billion yuan, an annual increase of 11.2%.
MediaTek previously estimated that revenue in the fourth quarter of last year would fall between 108 billion and 119.4 billion yuan, a quarterly decrease of 16% to 24%, and an annual growth rate of about 11% to 13%. Thanks to the monthly increase in revenue in December, revenue in the fourth quarter reached the lowest estimate.
According to the global smartphone AP (application processor) market report for the third quarter of 2022 released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, MediaTek has ranked first in the global smartphone chipset market share for eight consecutive quarters. However, it is reported that as the downturn in the global market economy continues, MediaTek has also begun to adjust its orders for the foundry TSMC.
Regarding the follow-up layout, industry sources said that given the high production costs and uncertain sales prospects of Android phones, MediaTek will have to think more about whether to follow in Apple's footsteps and let TSMC use 3nm process technology to manufacture their mobile phones in 2023.
