TOKYO -- A Japanese fund backed by the Development Bank of Japan and Itochu Corp. is buying a semiconductor plant owned by American manufacturer ON Semiconductor (Onsemi) for over 20 billion yen ($135 million), Nikkei has learned.
The Niigata-based factory will be equipped with the latest production facilities and begin contract manufacturing of semiconductors for electric vehicles in December.
